Setting up a remote desktop
Overview
This is a guide for setting up a remote desktop environment to connect to a VM using RDP.
Instructions
Remote desktop currently only works with Ubuntu, due to issues with desktop log in on our Rocky images
Set up the RDP server:
Install xrdp
sudo apt install xrdp
Check that xrdp is running:
systemctl status xrdp
If the service is not active run:
sudo systemctl enable xrdp sudo systemctl start xrdp
Create a security group to allow ingress from port 3389 (Create and Delete Security Group )
Connect to the VM using windows remote desktop connection:
open windows remote desktop connection
Type in the IP address of the VM and press connect.
Log in to the machine with your usual username and password.
If you get a black screen, click to wake the machine up,
